Terms of use

These are the terms for using Stue. They are short on purpose. Using Stue means you accept them.

Who runs Stue

Stue is run by Didrik Lie-Nielsen, a private individual in Norway, not a company. You can reach me at didrikln@gmail.com.

What Stue is, and is not

Stue helps a household keep track of shared life: a shopping list, who paid for what, whose turn it is to clean.

Stue is a notebook, not a bank. It never holds, moves, or transfers money. It does the arithmetic on what you tell it and can point you at Vipps or Revolut to settle up, but the paying happens between you and your flatmates, entirely outside Stue. If the numbers in Stue are wrong, it is because of what was entered. Stue is not a payment service, an accountant, or a party to any debt between you and the people you live with.

Your account

You need a Google account to sign in, and you must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live. Keep your sign-in to yourself: anyone who can get into your Google account can get into your flat.

What you put in

What you add stays yours. You give Stue only what it needs to show that content to your flat and keep it working.

Everything you add to a flat is visible to everyone in that flat. Your personal shopping list is the only thing that is not. Be reasonable about what you put in shared spaces, and do not use Stue to harass anyone, upload things you have no right to, or break the law.

Inviting someone into your flat gives them access to that flat’s contents. That is the point of it, so invite deliberately.

What it costs

Stue is free today. If a paid version ever appears, the features you are already using will not be switched off without warning, and you will be told clearly and in advance what changes. You will never be charged without agreeing to it first.

Nothing is guaranteed

Stue is a personal project offered as it is. It may be slow, it may be down, features may change, and it may one day stop. There is no guarantee it is fit for any particular purpose, and it should not be the only record of anything that matters to you. Keep your own record of significant money. You can download all your data at any time.

To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for losses arising from using Stue, including money miscounted, a notification that never arrived, or data lost. Nothing here removes rights you have under Norwegian consumer law, which take precedence over anything in this section.

Ending it

You can leave a flat or delete your account whenever you like, from account settings. What happens to your data then is set out in the privacy policy, including why shared financial records survive in anonymous form.

Access can be suspended if an account is being used to harm other people or the service. That is meant for abuse, not for disagreements.

Changes and law

These terms may change. If a change matters, you will be told in the app. Norwegian law applies, and disputes belong to the Norwegian courts.
