Stue is a shared home for your flat: a shopping list, a ledger, a cleaning rota. To do that it has to hold some information about you. This page says exactly what, why, and how to get rid of it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
Who is responsible
Didrik Lie-Nielsen is the data controller for Stue and can be reached at didrikln@gmail.com. Stue is run by one person, not a company.
What Stue holds
Your account. You sign in with Google, which tells Stue your email address, your name and your profile picture. Stue never sees or stores your Google password.
Your profile. A display name, an avatar colour, and optionally your birthday and your Revolut or Vipps username. The birthday and payment usernames are entirely optional and you can clear them at any time.
What you put in your flat. Shopping items, expenses and how they split, settlements, recurring bills, cleaning records, tasks, calendar entries and flat notes.
Receipt photos. If you scan a receipt, the photo is sent to Anthropic to read the line items, and the items come back to you. Stue never stores the photo, and it never lands in your flat’s data. Anthropic keeps it for up to 30 days to police misuse of their service and then deletes it, and does not use it to train their models. Stue itself keeps only a timestamp of the scan, so nobody can run up the bill on the service.
Notifications. If you turn on push notifications, your browser gives Stue a delivery address for that device. Turning notifications off removes it.
Feedback. If you send feedback, Stue keeps your message and which browser you sent it from, so a bug report can actually be chased down.
What Stue does not do
There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no third-party cookies. Nothing about you is sold or shared for marketing. The only cookies Stue sets are the ones that keep you signed in.
Why Stue is allowed to hold it
Your account and your flat’s contents are processed to provide the service you asked for, which is the contract between us. Push notifications, your birthday and your payment usernames rest on your consent, and you can withdraw that by turning them off or clearing them. Keeping the service secure and stopping abuse, such as limiting how many receipts can be scanned in a day, rests on a legitimate interest in Stue not being run into the ground.
Who else sees it
Your flatmates. This is the part worth understanding. Anything you add to a flat is visible to everyone in that flat: what you bought, what you spent, what you owe, what you cleaned. The one exception is your personal shopping list, which only you can see. If you would not want a flatmate reading it, do not put it in a shared flat.
Suppliers who run the service. Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in, hosted in the European Union. Vercel runs the website. Google provides sign-in. Anthropic reads receipt photos when you scan one. They act on Stue’s instructions and are not free to use your data for their own ends.
Your data is stored in the European Union and stays there.
How long it stays
Your account and your flat’s contents stay until you delete them. Delete your account and Stue erases your identity: your email address, your name, your picture, your profile and your Google sign-in link all go, and any feedback you sent is deleted. You will not be able to sign back in to that account.
One thing is deliberately kept: the shared financial records. If you split rent three ways and then vanish, deleting your half of that arithmetic would silently corrupt what your flatmates owe each other. Those rows survive with your name stripped out, shown to your old flat as “Former flatmate”. They no longer identify you, and they keep everyone else’s books honest.
What you can do
You can see and change most of your data directly in Stue, under account settings. From there you can also download everything Stue holds about you as a file, and delete your account outright.
Under the GDPR you have the right to get a copy of your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to how it is used, and receive it in a portable format. Email didrikln@gmail.com and you will get an answer within a month.
If you think Stue has handled your data badly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet, at datatilsynet.no. You are welcome to raise it with me first, but you do not have to.

If this page changes in a way that matters, you will be told in the app rather than left to notice the date at the top.
